Fanlisting
First of all, what is a fanlisting? Basically, a fanlisting is a website that is devoted to gathering as many fans as possible of a certain subject. Oh, and what does "approved" mean? It just means that this site is listed at thefanlistings.org.
The Periodic Table
Okay, because I fail at explaining things, I will paraphrase Wikipedia.
The periodic table of elements is basically a table that lists all the chemical elements (pure substances composed of only one type of atom) known to man. The elements are organized vertically in groups by the number of electrons in their outermost orbital. There are eightteen standard groups, the members of which have similar properties. They are also classified horizontally by "period" or row. Two of the groups, lanthanides and actinides, are excluded from the basic organization and can be found in a double-rowed table at the bottom, connected to Ba and Ra. The groups within the major table are alkali metals, alkaline earths, transition metals, poor metals, metalloids, nonmetals, halogens, and noble gases.
The elements themselves are classified with their chemical symbol, atomic number, and atomic mass in a basic periodic table. Depending on the table, it may also have the atomic mass average of the isotopes or other details.
Site
So. Sitey stuff. Hi, I'm Lila. I own this site. Its preliminary coding was done on 16 October, 2004. It's my first fanlisting (I currently own two).
Why did I choose the periodic table? Well, I think it's the most gorgeous thing since sliced bread and have thought so since sixth grade. It's also a miracle that it interests me at all because I had absolutely no passion for chemistry when I first encountered it. It just evokes an utter feeling of adoration that I don't dare ignore. And thus, this fanlisting was born. *hug*
As for the name of this website, it should be fairly obvious why it's named "Pure & Simple". Think about what elements and atoms are, people. XP
